Incidence of Tsunami Events in the Pacific Ocean before and after installing the ITSU System

A thought for Boxing Day 2006, the second anniversary of the Indian Ocean tsunami that killed so many people. Hopefully, while we can only speculate as to the cause and effect relationship, we can hope that the effect of deploying the new Global Ocean Observing System to perform world wide ocean monitoring will be similar to that resulting from the deployment of the ITSU tsunami monitoring system in the Pacific in 1968, where no major events have occurred since, despite tsunamis occurring relatively frequently in prior years, with particularly large events during the period 1946 to 1965.
